Job
Summary:
Works under the direction of the Director of Nursing and manages the day-to-day operations of the nursing department, including but not limited to staffing requirements, quality assurance and monitoring of resident care.
Duties:
Assist in review, interpretation and implementation of facility, Administrative and nursing objectives, policies and procedures routinely.
Makes regular rounds daily in order to observe operations and make recommendations for corrections as needed.
Ensure that resident's rights are maintained, as well as safety and infection control protocols are maintained.
Work in conjunction with quality assurance nurse reviewing and analyzing resident incident reports and initiating corrective action.
Communicate with residents and their families as needed.

staff on a regular basis and solicit advice from other inter-departmental supervisors in identifying and correcting problem areas and /or improvement of services.

staff when necessary, coordinating and documenting such actions with the Director of Nursing and Administrator.
Supervise daily staffing requirements, reallocating staff as needed, ensuring compliance with duties.
Attend Medicare and Care Plan meetings.
Participate in the facility's Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement program, completing audits and reporting of results.
Serve on various committees in the facility and provide written/oral reports as assigned by the committee's guidelines or direction.
Assist Director of Nursing in obtaining information related to admission inquiries.
Assist Director of Nursing in auditing admission/readmission charts on the first working day following admission.
Assign and follow-up with appropriate staff regarding completion and/or correction of required information.

Rotate after hours on-call duties as assigned.
