Primary Purpose of Job:

Implementation of the Therapeutic Community Treatment model under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Supervisor.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and submission of all treatment and educational outlines, lectures, handouts and other relevant materials as requested by a Supervisor.

  • Record keeping and daily clinical charting as required by the CEC program model and DASA licensing requirements and / or as requested by IDOC.

  • Administration and knowledge of educational, substance abuse and life skills assessments and integration of results into resident client treatment plan.

  • Participation in all training and supervision activities as provided for CEC staff and as required by IDOC.

  • Preparation of any schedules, reports or other information required for the program and requested by the Clinical Supervisor, Multi-Disciplinary team or IDOC personnel.

  • In conjunction with TASC and / or part as part of re-entry process, assess client aftercare needs / issues and services.

  • Provide counseling to client's family or significant others as requested by the Supervisor or Correctional Staff.

  • Coordinates individual clinical care of assigned client caseload.

  • Participate in treatment planning / conferences.

  • Observes / supervises client interactions.

  • Provides individual and group therapy / counseling. Meets with assigned clients as necessary.

  • Maintains and updates resident client's records; documents program in charts.

  • Performs ASI Assessments and any other required assessment instruments.

  • Assist IDOC Staff in monitoring offender behavior and developing intervention plans regarding difficult offenders.

  • If not certified, obtain a CADC or reciprocal credential within 2 years of employment.

  • Works as a team member with entire treatment staff and ancillary personnel to promote consistent and coordinated efforts.

  • Other duties as requested by Supervisor or designee.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and one (1) year experience in substance abuse treatment preferred. A bachelor's degree in Education or Human Services may be substituted for experience; or

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Criminal Justice, Counseling, Social Work, or related field(s) and/or a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC). Master's preferred.

  • Knowledge of the field of addictions or mental health counseling preferred.

  • Required skills include: time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines.

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work overtime as requested by supervisor.

  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
