Warehouseman - Purchasing

TITLE: Warehouseman CLASSIFICATION: Non-Certified
FLSA: Non-Exempt DEPARTMENT: Purchasing
SALARY: Union Local 382 WORK YEAR: 260 Days
REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Purchasing and Transportation
Under the general direction of the Director of Purchasing ship, receive, and deliver supplies, materials, and equipment, maintain inventory control and records; perform related work.
Two years' successful experience as Warehouseman or Laborer
High School Diploma
Associates degree preferred
Valid Illinois Driver's License
Regular attendance to perform assigned duties
Receive all items delivered to warehouse in eFinance with no errors.
Check all items ordered and received.
Open boxes and physically count all items.
Manages all mailroom functions, postage, sorting, stamping mail and making copies.
Ability to operate a forklift and handheld pallet jack.
Schedule deliveries to our warehouse from vendors.
Responsible for scheduling delivery of supplies to all District locations. This includes receiving the items from purchase orders, staging the orders, preparing the shipping materials, shipping the orders, and appropriate record keeping.
Receiving- receive and verify daily UPS, Fed-Ex, freight (common carrier) etc. shipments; distribute to office personnel as appropriate including appropriate record keeping.
Schedule and coordinate subs as demands require and budgets permit.
Prepare and handle returns of merchandise as directed by Director of Purchasing and Transportation.
Shipping- prepare labels and shipping materials for UPS or Fed-Ex shipments as requested by District personnel.
Pick up and drop off district mail.
Expected to lift 50lb packages.
Excessive standing and binding throughout the day.
Some assembly of furniture.
Miscellaneous duties as necessary.
Knowledge of:
Basic math skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing
Computer programs/ systems such as Word, Excel, CIMS and eFinance
Appropriate use of warehouse equipment
OSHA Regulations as it pertains to assigned duties
Operating material handling equipment (manual and power)
Ability to:
Handle, store and ship materials and supplies
Follow supervisor's directions.
Provide clear directions to others.
Communicate orally and in writing
Review documents for accuracy and completeness
Handle large, heavy equipment to perform assigned duties
Maintain a safe working environment
Inside/outside environment; all types of weather, snow, rain, wind, heat and cold; frequently noisy, dirty, and dusty; vibration from equipment or tools; sometimes includes close quarters.
Walking, standing, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, reaching, hearing and speaking to exchange information; seeing to monitor various activities; read documents, kneeling, bending at the waist, sitting and standing, walking or sitting for extended periods of time; reaching overhead, above shoulders, and horizontally, or bending at the waist; lifting heavy objects of fifty pounds are common. Requires manual dexterity, repetitive motions, hand/eye coordination, strength and endurance; occasional work at heights, use of heavy electric and manual equipment; requires alertness to potential hazards common in warehouseman.
Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals; contact with dissatisfied or abusive individuals

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
